Celebrating Biodiversity in the Mad River Valley
In 2019, we sponsored Celebrating Biodiversity in the Mad River Valley: A Free Community Workshop and Dinner, attended by 130 people and hosted by Lareau Farm Inn and American Flatbread in Waitsfield.
The workshop featured a presentation by Joe Roman, a prominent conservation biologist and researcher at the University of Vermont and author of Listed: Dispatches from America’s Endangered Species Act. Numerous conservation organizations took part and shared guidance with attendees on what actions they could take on their property to provide better habitat for Vermont species.
Audubon Vermont described how to create appealing habitat for the state’s many bird species.
Friends of the Mad River explained what can be done protect the water quality that species depend upon.
The Vermont Land Trust shared forest management practices and tips for dealing with invasive species.
The National Wildlife Federation described its Gardening for Wildlife certification program.
