Sandra Fary has taught grades K-12 in California and Vermont for the past 25 years. Her passion for nature began as a child while exploring the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range in Northern California. She strongly believes in immersing her students in the natural world—whether it be collecting eggs in the middle of a vernal pool, examining lichens at the top of Mt. Mansfield, observing rare birds at a bog, or tracking mammals in a floodplain forest in winter—fosters a connection to and appreciation for living things. Her goal is to inspire her students to be future stewards of the environment. In her spare time, she enjoys maintaining her extensive perennial and dwarf conifer gardens, mountain biking the hills of Vermont, foraging for wild edibles, and spending time with her two teenage sons and partner of 30 years.
