Chip Darmstadt is the founding executive director of North Branch Nature Center (NBNC) in Montpelier. Chip started the nature center in 1996, as part of the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, and then helped rebirth NBNC as an independent organization in 2006. He received his masters degree, with a concentration in Conservation Biology, from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. His earliest exposure to biodiversity in its full glory was as a field ornithologist in Costa Rica and Venezuela, studying euphonias and Carib Grackles. That experience ultimately led Chip to his lifelong passion of connecting people with the natural world, through his work at NBNC.
